A film director working in the Hindi and the Bengali film industry, Ujjwal Chatterjee has won many awards for his thought-provoking films. The awards include a national award for his first film, along with several international accolades. His films have been screened at various international film festivals like Fukuoka, Toronto, Melbourne, London and Hong Kong to name a few. His first Hindi film 'Escape from Taliban' with Manisha Koirala in the lead role, won critical and commercial acclaim and established his name in Bollywood as a mainstream director. His upcoming film 'Nalini' based on the life of Rabindranath Tagore starring Priyanka Chopra is releasing soon. Ujjwal shares a long family relationship with TIFF Director Abhinandan Shukla, and decided to do his bit for the cause of wildlife conservation as a mentor of the festival.
